but this one is CRAZY--- its 13 days long, outside on the streets of DC!!! So cold! I just hope it stays kind of dry. the cold is one thing, but the rain / sleet / wind chill is when it starts to wear on my soul. So keep your fingers crossed...

About the show:
The Downtown Holiday Market will operate for 19 days before Christmas. It will open Friday, December 5th, and will run continuously through Tuesday, December 23rd. Hours will be from 12pm - 8pm each day.

We will again be located on the wide sidewalk of F Street, this year stretching from 7th to 9th Streets NW, in front of the National Portrait Gallery. The market fronts entrances to the Gallery Place Metro. Across the street is the Verizon Center amid the bustling 7th Street Gallery Place corridor. Opposite the Market are Hotel Monaco, the Spy Museum, and upscale restaurants.

It really is a good show and it has a nice vibe, good people, good music and the donut guy will be there!!! A nice place to support LOCAL ARTISTS. I will be there starting on THURSDAY Dec 11th - Dec 23rd. Booth # 32. come on by!

is it crazy to plant bulbs in December?

So I kind of took the day to do domestic things and finally got to plant my bulbs as well as put up the twinkle lights. something about that seems wrong. I just hope that the bulbs will still bloom in time for the annual spring time brunch. Oh how I love spring.

back for more!

Thank you to everyone who came by to visit me in Richmond. It was kind of a tough show, with lots of unexpected drama. The first thing was that it was supposed to be in the rotunda of the Science Museum, but due to forces beyond the show's management's control, it ended up being outside in a tent. The weather was FREEZING cold and I had packed (both my wardrobe and booth) for a fancy indoor show. There weren't enough lights, the power went off during the premier and then, I woke in the middle of the night to hear my car alarm - -8 floors up. I went outside and sure enough, my window was smashed in. nothing was taken- the car was totally empty. Just random...But even after all of the drama -it turned out to be a nice show. I even saw a few old friends from school.

Birthday Season is over, Roger.

You can take off your party hat now.

Its Tracy's BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Today was Tracy's Birthday and we celebrated the amazing woman that Tracy is. The crazy part of the celebration was that we cleaned the studio to an extent that it may not have ever been cleaned before (at least since we moved to the basement last year). She was even confused as to why she was so happy that other people's work stations were clear and uncluttered. Another Birthday bonus was the Glutten-Free carrot cake made by Carolyn. Since discovering a wheat allergy, she was sad that she would never be able to eat cake again! ☹ But, thanks to almond flour and a girl who knows how to use it - -LETS EAT CAKE TRACY!!! WE LOVE LOVE YOU!!!!!

here you go...
Thanks for check out the blog!
periodically, I'll post one-day sales that you can only find out about by checking in or subscribing.
thanks again!
...oh yeah, FREE shipping still applies until Dec 1st

Its Sherill's Birthday!!!

Here at poppi, we are surrounded by Valentine Babies. We celebrated Sherill's B-day yesterday, because she wanted the day off. I totally get it. Enjoy your birthday and we hope you have a good one! We love you SHERILL!!!

Next weekend....RICHMOND, VA!!

Hey - Just so you all know...I'll be in Richmond the weekend before Thanksgiving. I'll be exhibiting at the Craft + Design show in the Science Museum of Virginia. It's going to be really weird going back to Richmond.... I graduated from VCU in the early early 90's. The school has totally changed, and as far as I can tell, VCU has taken over Broad street like nobody's business. Anyway...It should be a really good show - I will get to see a lot of my friends who will also be exhibiting, and I am bringing a bunch of my new work featuring the Vintage Lucite!
see you all there!!! BTW...if anyone has any restaurant suggestions, please feel free to post them here.

Bel Air, Maryland 21014
(410) 879-2350

CLASS of '88!!!

Well, I went to Paris' 20 year reunion, and let me just say that I had as much fun as if it were my own. I had minimal friends (one, two and kind of three) so, I would not have known anyone from my high school either. It was entertaining, and I walked away with a good story. I will post it at another time, when its a slow news day. Overall, I would recommend going to any high school reunion you can. They are all the same.

a day photographing the new earrings- - COMING SOON!!

I have been having a blast with the new Vintage Lucite collection. This August, I came up with the Knockers and twisted earrings -totally fun and Calder-like. Well, the pieces are finally ready to be photographed, so, this afternoon Paris and I spent photographing the new "knockers" and "twisted". Now, there is a bunch of photoshopping to be done (paths to cut, colors to correct, etc). They'll go online sometime in October, when we load the circus act earrings! Look for them at poppishop.com

OMG! poppi was mentioned on MY FAVORITE BLOG!!!

I always thought I was alone with my ring fetish, but a few years ago I came across thecarrotbox! Thecarrotbox.com is a website that features only rings. Mostly non-metal, from European and Australian designers. I cannot believe some of the pieces that she has found and features on her blog. She also has put her personal ring collection on line, organized BY COLOR!! A woman after my heart. How surprised was I to find out today that in her June blog she included a tiny mini link to my website. I am totally flattered in a nervous school girl kind of way. I just sent her an email gushing about how big of a fan I am and thanking her for mentioning me. I am such a dork! Definitely check out thecarrotbox.com.

on to the next thing...and the thing after that..

I have a few small events coming up.
  • I will be at my studio in Alexandria on October 2nd - from 6pm-8pm for a mini trunk show.
  • My BIG trunk show / open studio will be on Saturday October 4th from noon until 4pm.
  • I will also be at the Crystal Market again the last two weeks in October. the dates I will be there are: oct 16th-18th and Oct 23rd- 25th.
  • the next big thing for me to do is get some one of a kind work started for the Visual Arts Center of Richmond Craft + Design Show in November. I've linked it to a non-official site because it seems to have more information than the VAC site. Anyway, what I have ot do is sit down at the bench for a long long time until I have a pile of candy-like rings and such in front of me. I am looking forward to such a day!
